Alli Review

Alli is a non-prescription, FDA approved diet pill that is very similar to orlistat (Xenical). It simply reduces the body’s amount of fat absorption. Alli has come up with a weight loss program to go along with the diet pill and is appropriate for obese patients 18 years and older.

Mechanisms of Action

Lipase is an enzyme found in the digestive tract to help break down dietary fat into smaller components. Alli inhibits lipase which prevents the fat breakdown, thereby decreasing absorption of fat within your body. The undigested fat continues through the digestive system and is eliminated through bowel movements. By absorbing less fat, your body will take in fewer calories.

Effectiveness and Use

Alli is most effective when taken with fat-containing meals up to three times a day. It is recommended that each meal does not contain more than 15 grams.

Consumers do not lose a significant amount of weight with Alli. It is probably just as effective to refrain from eating fatty foods. However, it is an excellent supplement for consistent diet and exercise. Most of the clinical studies and findings are based on Alli’s counterpart orlistat. From these studies, the average consumer lost 6 more pounds compared to diet and exercise alone.

Most weight loss occurs within the first six months. Many consumers lose weight from Alli and when they stop taking it, they regain the weight they had loss. To keep the weight off, most people continue taking the medications indefinitely with the recommended diet plan.

Safety

Alli is not safe to take if you

  • • Have a healthy BMI
  • • Are taking cyclosporine
  • • Had an organ transplant
  • • Have gastrointestinal problems
  • • Have problems absorbing food
  • • Are taking blood-thinning medication
  • • Have diabetes
  • • Have thyroid diseases

Because Alli decreases the absorption of fat, fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) will be diminished as well. It is necessary to take vitamin supplements to avoid potential nutrient deficiencies.

Possible Side Effects

  • • Flatulence
  • • Oily anal discharge
  • • Loose stools or diarrhe
  • • More frequent bowel movements
  • • Hard-to-control bowel movements

Summary

Alli is an FDA approved diet pill that can be obtained without a prescription. It is the reduced-strength version of orlistat (Xenical). It contains an effective inhibitor of lipase, an enzyme necessary for the breakdown and absorption of fat. Consumers lose weight by taking in less fat and calories. It is most effective when supplemented with regular diet and exercise. Alli is not a strong diet pill and people should not expect to lose a significant amount of weight. There are a handful of unwanted gastrointestinal side effects.

With Alli I did not loose any weight.I watched what i ate.But No I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE!

Alli worked pretty good but I didn't lose any weight because I didn't work out or follow the program, so it was my own fault. I have read many complaints about "oily stool" and 'yes' Alli transforms your stool into a runny oily substance. It CAN be controled with how much fat you intake. The more fat you eat, the more there is for Alli to break down. So, for those folks who are messing in their undergarments, lay off the fast food. Alli isn't a miracle pill, but it helps a lot if you follow the diet plan and exercise.

Alli has worked very well for me. I have been on it around 1 month now and have lost 7 pounds, which is great because I had reached a plateau in my diet before I started Alli and it got me past the plateau right away. In order for Alli to work well, you need the follow the directions by following a low fat diet and getting regular exercise. If you take Alli, I would not advise consuming more than your alloted grams of fat per meal or you might not be able to control your bowels. Even if you don't exceed your recommended grams of fat per meal, I recommend that you wear a panty liner because you will probably find orange colored oil in your panties on a frequent basis. It is also likely that you will pass a pizza-like grease along with your normal bowel movements, which is normal since undigested fat is passing through your system. Other than having to use panty liners, I have not had any problems whatsoever with Alli and have been very satisfied with my progress to date. I highly recommend it for people who are serious about losing weight the right way.

Taking Alli was a big disappointment. I felt as if I gained weight and not lost, compared to losing with Xenical.

With alli i lost 35 lb in 4 month ,at first i did have oily stool but i also eat 3 time a day and don't eat after 7 o'clock

I WILL NOT RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE, I GAIN WEIGHT DIDN'T LOSE NOTHING, AND I KNOW IT WASN'T MY EATING BECAUSE I ONLY ATE HEATHY CHOICE AND SMART ONE'S FOR LUNCH AND 6 STRIP OF BACON IN THE MORNING AND A MEAL AT DINNER AND NOTHING TO EAT AFTER 1930. IT'S A MONEY THING TO GET YOUR MONEY.

Ok, I don't get it, everywhere that I look about this pill it talks about loose BM's and uncontrollable BM's and oily farts and all that, and I've been taking it for 4 days, and in that time I have been more constipated than I can ever remember being. It's been 3 days since I've gone, and I have never had a problem like this before. besides being overweight, I'm a healthy 27 year old with a normal digestive system who eats more than the daily recommended amount of fiber, and yet the second I started taking alli, I haven't crapped in 3 days. I was already on a low fat and reduced calorie diet, and was already exercising 45 minutes a day before even starting alli. In fact I had lost 25 pounds on my own in a little over 2 months, I was just worried that I would hit a diet plateau and not lose the other 65 pounds I need to to be in the healthy weight range for my height. I think everyone is right, this pill is useless, if you're already eating right and exercising then it does nothing, if you eat greasy high calorie food all the time, then I guess it'll help you by making you uncontrollably crap out the grease in the food you eat.

From the review in the uk, I was so excited about having it. I got the whole works and started it just as they said. After a while I realized that all I got were the side effects and not the loss of weight. I was well disappointed. now I am on xenical and I must say that although it has been only two weeks, I am already seeing the desirable effects. I am well relieved.

I really think it has helped me lose 5 or so extra pounds. You really have to watch what you eat though or stay close to home.

I have only been on it about two weeks. So far, staying on a low-fat diet, I have not experienced any diarrhea at all. I feel like when I have bowel movements, I am simply getting the unneeded fat out of me! I have been exercising daily and watching all that I eat. I think it is working..my clothes are fitting better already.

I used Alli for one month..it helped me lose weight..but I couldn’t stand run to the bathroom right after i ate anything...u get an odd smelling gas and u poop this orange oily stuff out after about a week of using it ..if u can deal with all the side effects it works great and if u don’t eat a lot of fatty foods and eat a lot of natural foods it works great...just the side effects r hard to deal with ...but it does make u more aware of what u r putting in your body so it does help u to get in the mind set to start a diet.

Taken this diet pill under the supervision of my doctor: other than the orange loose BMs - I don't feel a thing and after two weeks - I have not lost any weight?? what gives? I have cut down my calories, started a walking program and taking this pill -- still no weight loss...I think it’s time for surgery?

I thought Alli was such a great aid to lose weight and remove fat from my system. It also caused me to become regular. However, I began to experience flu like symptoms that put me in bed for about 3-4 days. After having these symptoms and; being down right sick, causing job loss....I counted 8 in a 9 mo. period I became frightened ( my sister died of pancreatic cancer). I asked for a CT scan of my stomach...all clear. The symptoms are waking up and; feeling so dizzy I would fall back in bed, stomach pains, head ache, nauseated. I then asked to have a CT of my head....again all clear. I thought about everything I had eaten or was taking and Alli came up as something foreign in my body. I stopped taking it and; now experience constipation but so far I haven't experienced dull headaches, dizziness, nausea, and; body aches. Please share with me if any other person has experienced anything like this....Thanks

I started using Alli 4 days ago ,first 2 days I didn't feel anything ,than the 3rd day I freaked out when I saw these oily spots in the toilet thinking that there was something wrong with me . I started having diarrhea 24/7 so It would wake me up just to get little spots oily stains in my toilet...there was nothing else and there was not that much of it . 2day I had one of the most embarrassing day of my life .I went out on my lunch and after finishing I let some gas out which I barely felt so as I'm sitting down ,I got up to go get a refill on my drink and I saw my seat full off diarrhea -the whole seat was oily )there was no poop-just disgusting oil ) the sad part was that I didn't feel that I'm having diarrhea I just farted. So my pants were all pooped with this disgusting and you could tell from a distance that my pants are wet. Thank GOD that my pants are shirt I was wearing were black and the seat I was sitting on. I wiped out the chair, I went to the bathroom! to refresh so I can go back to work without smelling . Ha ...I knew the oily stains are still imprinted into my pants so I took some toilet paper I put it on my seat in my car and I was sitting on it all the way back to the office. Oh boy the paper I was sitting on was all yellow and ugly stains all over as if someone had just pooped. Well my dear friends if you are using ALLI ...1)do it on your days off , 2)do not wear anything light; By all means 3) do not fart -that was the disgusting part when you fart the oil is sleeping out your but and stains everything around plus it does not come out of clothes . My black pants still have these stains like crap.

Yes, alli is the diet pill that is best used with exercising and eating healthy. Isn't that what we are all after? There are no magic diet pills out there (trust me I know) I've tried them all. As long as you eat good food and don’t over consume you don't have to worry about the oil stains. Thanks for being totally honest and objective when reviewing this product.

I've been using Alli for two weeks now and have lost 9 lbs and have had no embarrassing side effects. I am really watching what I eat though. I am very careful of my fat intake and I'm keeping my calories down. In my opinion, one must be extremely motivated to lose weight to use this plan - if you're not serious about watching what you eat and eating right, then you are probably better off trying something else.
