BioGenetic Laboraties gcbLEAN Review

gcblean

In an overcrowded industry with overcrowded formulas, it’s nice to see a product like BioGenetic Laboratories gcbLEAN that advertises a simple formula.

After all, simple formulas allow room for each ingredient to be included in its recommended dose—a key feature to any successful diet pill.

However, some of gcbLEAN’s claims are not as modest as their formula. According to advertisements, gcbLEAN doesn’t require users to do anything different while taking the product. This is almost never true. Even if it is, this isn’t the kind of weight loss aid that teaches habits leading to long-lasting weight loss.

To discover the real truth about gcbLEAN, I looked further into its formula, potential side effects, and manufacturer.

Who is BioGenetic Laboratories?

BioGenetic Laboratories’ official website doesn’t tell us much about the company, but it does make a point of advertising its 10-year run in the business. An established history in the supplement industry is an impressive card to play, as most companies don’t survive their first couple of years. However, I want to know more about BioGenetic Laboratories.

After some research, I was able to connect BioGenetic Laboratories with iSatori Technologies, a company based in Golden, Colorado.

iSatori has been around since 2004 and sells weight loss and muscle-building products. The company holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and has just 3 complaints on file, all of which have been resolved.

These are encouraging findings, and lead me to take gcbLEAN more seriously than I otherwise might have.

What Ingredients Are in gcbLEAN?

BioGenetic Laboratories includes just 2 active ingredients in gcbLEAN: green coffee bean and raspberry ketone.

I generally like simple formulas, but I’m wary of overly simple ones. If there’s nothing unique in gcbLEAN, why not buy simple green coffee bean and raspberry ketone extracts and take them together?

For now, however, I’ll consider what these 2 ingredients do for weight loss.

Green Coffee Bean (800 mg)

The namesake for gcbLEAN, green coffee bean is said to be a powerful stimulant. With 4 times the caffeine as black coffee, green coffee stimulates the central nervous system to increase metabolism and raise body temperature. This increases caloric expenditure and burns fat.

Because green coffee has not yet been roasted, it has a higher level of chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid is thought to aid weight loss by improving heart disease, diabetes, and other obesity-related health conditions.

In a 2012 study, subjects taking green coffee lost an average 17 pounds over 12 weeks [1]. To be effective, green coffee needs to be taken in 700-1050 mg doses daily, so it’s good to see gcbLEAN’s dosage falls within these parameters.

Raspberry Ketone (100 mg)

The second ingredient in gcbLEAN is a red raspberry chemical said to possess fat-burning properties. Featured on “The Dr. Oz Show” in 2012, raspberry ketone has since been featured in many diet pills.

The extract’s main claim to fame is a 2004 study in which raspberry ketone helped overweight mice lose a significant amount of fat mass [2]. It is thought to work like other stimulants, increasing body temperature and improving metabolic rate. Unfortunately, raspberry ketone hasn’t been tested in humans, so it’s hard to judge its effectiveness.

I’m glad BioGenetics Laboratories uses the recommended amount for both green coffee bean and raspberry ketone, but I’m not totally sold on this formula. The “iffiness” surrounding raspberry ketone’s effectiveness makes me nervous, and I’d like to see other fat burners supporting green coffee bean.

This doesn’t mean gcbLEAN’s formula is a bad one, but it doesn’t offer much that other competing supplements don’t.

Could These Stimulants Cause Side Effects?

gcbLEAN relies on stimulants to trigger fat burning and weight loss, so there is a side effect risk present. Due to the caffeine content in green coffee bean and raspberry ketone’s effect on the central nervous system, gcbLEAN could cause:

• Tremors
• Headache
• Insomnia
• Anxiety
• Increased blood pressure
• Rapid heartbeat
• Pounding heart

This is especially true if you’re sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants. If you know you are, make sure to drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet to mitigate side effects. Also avoid taking gcbLEAN within 4 or 5 hours of bedtime.

How Much Does gcbLEAN Cost?

gcbLEAN is rather expensive at $49.99 per bottle. Most designer diet pills hover around this price range, but these diet pills generally have more expansive formulas than gcbLEAN.

Fortunately, there are deals on other sales websites, including:

Tiger Fitness
Price: $29.29
Shipping: $4.95

NSM Sport
Price: $30.95
Shipping: $9.20

LiveLeanToday.com
Price: $32.99
Shipping: $5.99

Netrition.com
Price: $35.97
Shipping: $4.95

Vitacost.com
Price: $35.99
Shipping: $4.99

These prices are a little more reasonable, but I still think gcbLEAN is asking a lot in exchange for a 2-ingredient formula.

Should You Try BioGenetic Laboratories gcbLEAN?

There’s nothing wrong with gcbLEAN, but its scanty formula makes the price tag hard to validate. If you find a good deal, it may be worth trying. However, with green coffee bean being the only ingredient scientifically proven to help humans lose weight, you’re taking a bit of a gamble with this product.
