Shred Factor is a new diet pill included in the Inner Armour Blue product line. This product amplifies metabolism and induces thermogenic weight loss.

It can be used by professional athletes wanting to reduce fat percentage or individuals trying to meet weight loss goals. According to InnerArmourBlue.com, professional NFL athletes regularly use Inner Armour products to achieve maximum performance and ideal body composition.

Inner Armour is a respected British supplement company claiming to be “undeniably the best in the world.” I tested Inner Armour’s reputation for quality by researching Shred Factor’s ingredients.

Ingredients for Shredding Fat

Based on the ingredient label, Shred Factor uses all-natural ingredients. The most potent ingredients are below:

Green Tea Leaf Extract (50 mg) burns fat through thermogenesis and fat oxidation. It also causes respiration in brown adipose tissue, removing accumulated fat. Green tea is also effective for suppressing appetite and reducing food intake.[1]

For weight loss, 100-750 mg per day is recommended.[2] Shred Factor might not contain a sufficient dose to deliver results.

Caffeine (200 mg) increases resting metabolic rate by 3-4%, according to one study. It also stimulates thermogenesis and increases energy. Researchers conclude caffeine “can have a significant influence on energy balance and may promote thermogenesis in the treatment of obesity.”[3]

This study used a dose of 100 mg per day to produce these results.[3] Shred Factor contains twice this amount but should still fall into a safe dosing range.

Raspberry Ketone (100 mg) stimulates secretion of adiponectin, a hormone that regulates adipose tissue. This increases lipolysis in white adipocytes, which burns existing fat storage and prevents future fat accumulation.[4]

Most studies on raspberry ketone have been conducted on animals. More research is needed to determine the optimal dose for humans.

Cayenne Pepper (50 mg) stimulates lipid mobilization from fat tissue, lowering the weight of perirenal adipose tissue. It also lowers serum blood triglycerides and promotes healthy cholesterol.[5] It may also suppress appetite, but more studies are needed to confirm this.[6]

An adult dose usually falls between 30-120 mg up to three times daily.[6] I’m not sure if Shred Factor contains enough to deliver desired effects.

Green Coffee Bean (200 mg) contains high concentrations of chlorogenic acids, which influence glucose and fat metabolism.

One study gave subjects a high dose (1050 mg) or a low dose (700 mg) green tea. Both doses were successful at reducing body weight and body fat mass. Several subjects shifted body weight from pre-obesity to the normal weight range. These results were accomplished without altering dietary intake.[7]

However, I don’t think Shred Factor contains enough to provide full benefit.

L-Carnitine Tartrate (125 mg) encourages weight loss by stimulating fat oxidation in adipose tissue.[8] It is also a potent performance enhancer. It optimizes the body’s recovery process after working out. It also reduces chemical muscle damage inflicted from exercise.[9]

Clinical studies have proven a dose of 3 g per day is effective[8]; although, some experts suggest taking 990 mg two to three times a day.[10]

I don’t think Shred Factor contains enough to have a notable effect on weight loss or performance.

Recommended Use

An individual serving is 2 capsules. It is recommended to begin dosing with 1 capsule to determine personal tolerance. You may take a full serving once tolerance is established. Keep to 1 capsule if you have caffeine or stimulant sensitivity.

Do not consume Shred Factor within 6 hours of going to bed. This product is stimulating and may cause insomnia.

Possible Side Effects

Some ingredients in Shred Factor pose a possibility for side effects or unpleasant reactions.

For instance, L-carnitine might cause sweat, breath, and urine to have a fishy odor.[10]
