Muscle Milk Light Review

Muscle Milk Light

Muscle Milk Light contains a mix of complex proteins, medium-chain triglycerides, and fatty acids to provide essential nutrients and energy.

Plus, it’s lighter than the original Muscle Milk.

But is Muscle Milk Light really the best way to slim down and tone up?

Muscle Milk Light Nutrients

Muscle Milk Light contains the following categories of ingredients:

Proteins

The following proteins are found in Muscle Milk Light: calcium sodium caseinate, milk protein isolate, milk protein concentrate, and whey protein concentrate.

These are all excellent sources of essential amino acids to promote muscle growth and repair. They also provide important nutrients to keep you full, ideally making you less likely to overeat.

Muscle Milk Light ready-to-drink version has 20 g protein, but does not reveal how much comes from each form of protein. If you are looking for a product that helps with muscle building and energy, whey protein is probably the best choice due to its many BCAAs.

Fats

Believe it or not, these fats will not make you gain more fat. They are actually more important to your nutrition and overall health. Medium chain triglycerides are fatty acid esters contained in milk fat, and they miraculously assist with fat burning.

Canola oil and sunflower oil provide essential fatty acids. Monounsaturated fatty acids may reduce “bad” cholesterol, but may unfortunately promote insulin resistance. In contrast, polyunsaturated fatty acids reduce heart disease risk and protect against insulin resistance.

Vitamins and Minerals

Muscle Milk Light contains many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, calcium, and thiamin. It contains 60% of the daily value of chromium, which can lower cholesterol and decrease body fat as well as improve blood sugar control. It also contains zinc, magnesium, and vitamin B6, which together are purported to promote weight loss.

Additives and Flavors

Muscle Milk Light has a long list of sweeteners, including maltodextrin, alkalized cocoa powder, and natural and artificial flavors. Although there is no sugar in Muscle Milk Light, this doesn’t mean there aren’t added ingredients that won’t help weight loss.

Altogether, Muscle Milk Light has a decent formula, and it’s impressively low in carbs, fat, and sugar. But there’s nothing about the ingredients that lead me to believe Muscle Milk Light is superior to other protein drinks.

Muscle Milk Light Dangers

Note that Consumer Reports tested Muscle Milk products and found a high content of arsenic, cadmium, and lead. Since the formulas are so similar, I assume these metals could also be found in Muscle Milk Light as well. If taken consistently in high levels, these metals could deteriorate health over time.

Muscle Milk Light Functions

Like Muscle Milk, Muscle Milk Light is intended to be used in between meals or with meals to increase protein content. This could increase energy and muscle growth. Although it may help you control hunger, it is not sold specifically as a weight loss promoter.

Muscle Milk Light User Reviews

It’s hard to gauge Muscle Milk Light’s popularity from user reviews. Some loved it and some hated it, with all categories of preference in between. Here is just a sampling of what people said about Muscle Milk Light:
• “Frankly, I love this stuff. It’s low glycemic, it’s high in protein AND it tastes great.” (ASavoir)
• “Muscle Milk is a good protein drink—not delicious, but very good chocolate drink.” (Carolyn)
• “Taste REALLY bad . . . Great as far as killing your hunger, you definitely won’t want to eat anything else.” (jk)

Muscle Milk Light Prices

Muscle Milk Light is widely distributed, and you can find it at many stores and online. Note that there are many different flavors, and there is both a powder version and a ready-to-drink version.

While prices vary depending on size and flavor, here are some price examples for a 1.65 lb. tub of powder:
• Vitamin Shoppe: $24.18
• Nutrasource: $25.49
• LP Supplements: $25.89

Muscle Milk Light: Buy or Deny?

Muscle Milk Light is convenient and easy to locate. But that doesn’t mean it’s the best choice for a protein drink. It’s worth it to spend more time and energy shopping for a better quality protein drink.
